No thanks. I'll settle for my cat.

Since I was about ten or eleven, I decided that I did not want to have children. I didn't even like children when I was one. I was that kid always hanging out with adults or kids way older than me. I never really got along with children nor did I want to be around them. I've never understood the idea of not being fulfilled until having children. Having children seems like more of a burden than a blessing. I don't think I've met anyone with a child under ten who isn't tired, burned out, feeling tied down unless someone else was primarily raising their child.

I've thought about this issue at great lengths. I've wondered if there was something wrong with me. I've thought about all the reasons why to or not to have a child. The reasons? Many reasons not to and absolutely none for having a child. Ideas would come, but they all seemed rather selfish.

I was out one night and started talking to a woman who had a small child at home somewhere. She didn't seem like a happy person and was saying that she hadn't been out in so long. I was a little drunk and not in my usual polite state. I started asking her why she had a child. Her answer? Basically, she was lonely and wanted someone to love her. Mind you, this isn't the first person who has said this to me, not the second nor third. "Why would you put that on someone who has no choice in the matter?" I asked. She replied, "you don't want that?" "No," I said, "that isn't fair to bring someone into this world for your own personal reasons. We don't have to save the species as there are too many humans already on this plant who are destroying it. Don't you think that's selfish?" After much back and forth she had to admit that she had a child for selfish reasons. Dave and I walked away shaking our heads. See, that's why we don't want children. We don't want to be that.

I don't say it enough, but I am very lucky to be in the relationship I am in. He is also thoroughly and completely on the same page with me when it comes to producing children. He doesn't want them and doesn't understand why anyone else would. Unlike me, however, he does like children while they frighten me. They always want me to touch them or hold them. Yuck! He will never have to worry about me getting pregnant to "save our relationship".

If I had a dime for every time someone has said to me, "when you get older you will want children," I'd be able to pay for my college education and then some. I don't understand why people can't find fulfillment elsewhere. Isn't that too much to put on someone? I get fulfillment from so many facets of my life, that having a child would only hinder upon my happiness. It would limit me, as I've seen children limit so many wonderfully creative and intelligent people.

Every year, like clockwork, I see my gynecologist. Usually it would be for a new birth control prescription and a check up but this year was very different. Back in January, I suffered from a pulmonary embolism, basically, blood clots in my lungs caused by hormonal birth control and flying. I was lucky it was my lungs and not my heart or brain. I was lucky that I went to the emergency room when I did. I was smart to stop my hormonal birth control. I told my doctor about all this. After assuring her that I was ok, she said, "you are very lucky that you don't want children. The hormones in birth control are just a small taste of the hormones you experience in pregnancy. If you ever got pregnant, without serious medical intervention, like stomach injections everyday, the pregnancy would kill you." I asked if I could have that in writing so I can stop the "oh, when you are older..." and "you'll feel different when..."

My body called my bluff and I don't feel either way about it. On the one hand, it lets me out of conversations about why I won't have children pretty easily. On the other hand, I like my original reason for not wanting children way more than the lame illness excuse. I know most women would probably be so upset at this news, but pregnancy was never on the table for me, just how to avoid it. Avoiding it almost killed me. I wonder if hormones women take to get pregnant can kill them. That's an interesting subject to look into. But, for me, I'm eagerly awaiting menopause.

Lastly, while I don't like children, I have a great amount of respect for people who adopt children. There are so many unwanted children on this planet and some of them are waiting for homes and new parents. With the human population soaring, it is nice to see people taking care of the people already here and needing help.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://missbellatrixx.blogspot.com/2010/07/children-no-thanks-ill-settle-for-my.html' title='Children? When I do think of something, I am distracted with the millions of other things around me: work, cats, dog, school work, the Xbox 360. My silence isn't because of a lack of enthusiasm for current events, just an inability to focus and not be distracted by distractions. See, now my phone is ringing again. Sometimes I think the telephone should be obsolete.

Lately, current events have made me bitter and paranoid. Perhaps that is why I'd rather distract myself from them than actually discuss them. There has been a fear that global warming and overpopulation will leave us with little to no water. The BP oil leak has made me fear that soon there will be no water left for us. We will be reliant on Coke and Pepsi for our fluid intake. I don't even want to think of the poor suffering animals. It is just horrible.

Earlier today, I was reading that aspartame causes tons of health problems including thyroid problems. Oh, that's productive. Our water is toxic and our food is toxic. All man made problems. That's really, really sad and unfortunate.

In November, Californians get to vote to decriminalize and regulate marijuana. This is good news. The state of California is strapped for cash. California can make thousands, if not millions, on taxes and regulated marijuana. In addition, California will save millions on law enforcement, criminal prosecution and incarceration.

I was in the supermarket over the weekend and I saw a headline on a tabloid which read something like New Evidence Proves the President was not Born in the U.S. I was so angry by that headline for several reasons. Why won't these crazy "birther" people give it a rest. Do they really believe that there was a conspiracy when this guy was born "just in case" he was elected president? Really? I think someone needs to teabag the birthers.

I won't even go into the real scary politics, like who may be elected president in 2012. Nor that the economy is still a mess. Nor how it is more expensive to make a home cooked meal than it is to order crappy food. It is a sad state we, as humans, are in, and it leaves me stumped on what to write about.

Testing the mobile blog...

Testing the mobile blog...

Thoughts on Losing a Best Friend

I had this idea that when Nietzsche would be about 12 or 13 years old, that I was going to adopt another dog. Dogs learn from watching one another. Nietzsche could train this new dog to be social, outgoing, loving, not to bark too much... Not that I wanted to replace her, no dog could ever replace her, but in the hopes that some of Nietzsche's traits would influence a new dog to be almost as perfect as she was. She had shared that knowledge in the past with foster dogs, why not for my dog? While Nietzsche's looks and blindness showed her age which saddened me that my puppy was surely on the path to the inevitable, I didn't think it would happen when she was only 9 years old.

There were traits that Nietzsche had that were .... well, she was truly the perfect dog. Wait, yes, she did have some flaws, like being really pissed when I tried to cut her nails, but all and all, she was well behaved, social, and had this incredible sense of giving me what I needed. If I needed space, she'd go into her bed; if I needed comfort, she would cuddle with me until I was feeling better.

Over the last two weeks, I've been angry that I didn't have the opportunity to do a lot of things with Nietzsche, one of those things being her teaching a new dog how to live with me. She wasn't supposed to die this young, not like this. As I was in bed, crying, and the hours got closer to the alarm's signal to start my day, I realized something: there was my cat Emily. She had came by when I started crying. Like there was an alarm to notify her, I heard her come into the apartment from the yard, up the stairs and into bed. She stayed in my arms until I got up to leave for work.

I began to think: maybe Nietzsche did train, not a new dog, but Emily and Mariposa to be there when she was gone. Nietzsche used to roll onto her back for belly rubs every time I passed her by, now Emily does that. Nietzsche used to paw at me until I pet her, now Mariposa does that. When I'm upset and need a shoulder to cry on, Nietzsche would come by and be there, now Emily seems to have taken up that task. Nietzsche loved to play fetch with her stuffed dolls, Emily loves to play fetch with her glittery ball-toy things.

It makes sense, both cats came to live with me at about five to six months old. Like dogs, cats learn certain behaviors from each other and the animals they live with. I wonder if Emily didn't grow up with Nietzsche, would she still be a licker?

While my heart is still very much broken and hurting, there are little pieces of Nietzsche left behind. While Emily and Mariposa grieve with me, they seem to try to fill some of Nietzsche's empty pieces. It feels like it has brought all of us closer together (Delilah included) but at least I know (or at least believe) that we all will never forget our little Nietzsche.

I'm anxious

Why am I so anxious? Because even though I know I'll stock up on the Djarum Lights I've smoked for about ten years and I'll smoke them gently: only on holidays or serious party nights, I know that they will soon run out and I will go insane. No more long drives with a cigarette dangling from my lower lip (I'm a nervous driver and while I am approaching my three year driving anniversary, smoking while driving helps me keep my wits). No more walking the streets after a fantastic meal with a cigarette in my hand. No more sitting in my backyard while smoking a cigarette trying to decompress from my insane day. No more, all gone. Am I quitting smoking? No, not by choice anyway.

I'm being forced to quit thanks to Pres. Obama and the FDA. And what affect does this ban on clove cigarettes have on me? Anxiety, weight gain, and, oh yeah, lots and lots and lots of anger. I really hope this isn't the government's idea of a "public health option".

Let me start off by saying that I know smoking is bad for me. I know that there are a lot of health risks involved. Yes, I know, I know, I know. And I know smoking 10 cigarettes a week (which is about my record) isn't much healthier than smoking a pack a day. I know! But, I'm one of those people who say, "I will never quit smoking" because it is true. I love smoking. I take pleasure in smoking. I'm a nervous wreck when I need one or if I am under stress until I have a cigarette. I can admit that there are times I do, very much, need a cigarette. I think most cigarettes are gross, actually all of them except for cloves. If I've been smoking too much, cloves become are gross too and I don't have one for a few weeks.

But knowing that it is always there and as long as I have seven dollars in my pocket, I could deal with life's speed bumps and traffic jams. Some people drink, some people smoke pot, I smoke cloves. Is one worse than the other? I don't think so. So, let's give the federal government another big thank you for giving me more stuff for my neurotic ass to worry about. Can you guys at least get public health care option passed? Perhaps since you did this favor for Philip Morris, perhaps they should return the favor and pay for public health care.

And to the FDA, please stop allowing high fructose corn syrup to be added to peanut butter. If you want to use children as an excuse, fat, diabetic children whether they smoke or not, aren't healthy either. I'm just saying.

Can I also add that I expect full onset depression in the goth scene. Even though I didn't frequently smoke them, I will miss Djarum Blacks too.

Save the Whales by being a Vegetarian? Not what you think.

I'm all for vegetarianism. Why not? Eating meat on a regular basis is not only bad for you, but is also bad for the environment.

In a nutshell, the raising of animals for food, processing and transportation is "one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global" according to the United Nations report on livestock. Environmental experts around the world are encouraging people to reduce or remove meat from their diets. The not-so-mainstream media have started to promote being a vegetarian either one day a week or five days a week, like Monday through Friday to help our planet.

In addition, we all know red meat isn't good for us and with the hormones, antibiotics and chemicals ingested or injected into the animals, all that can't be good for us either. All animal products contain cholesterol. Reducing animal products in your diet will reduce your cholesterol and your heart will thank you for it. Then there is the condition the animals live and die in to consider as well.

Why am I on a vegetarian rant? This week in Jacksonville, Flordia, P.E.T.A. released this billboard:

Ok, this billboard really upsets me. I understand that vegetarians statistically are slightly leaner than non-vegetarians, but being a vegetarian will not help you lose weight!! Most meat eaters who stop eating meat tend to over compensate for protein by eating more dairy, which is actually worse than meat. It take nutrition education and exercise to lose weight, not just cutting out meat. Because you know, Haagen Daaz and french fries are vegetarian. And calling fat people whales, really? I want to eat a hamburger just in defiance of P.E.T.A.

I'm all for saving whales. Hell, I'm a big fan of large marine animals: sharks, dolphins and whales. When I first glanced at an article with this billboard, I was hoping it was addressing how meat production increases pollution, therefore, drastically changing water temperatures, the whales are being affected. To me that makes sense. This billboard does not.

While I agree with P.E.T.A. on some issues (I make an effort not to wear animal products, even though lately, I've really gotten into leather corsets), they take some very extreme and very unrealistic views on animals in our society which I can't agree with. I wish I knew the brilliant person in marketing who came up with this. Shock value, yes. Effectiveness, not so much. Will it make fat people vegetarians, probably not.

Residents of Jacksonville are saying they are owed an apology. As we know P.E.T.A. well, that'll never happen.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://missbellatrixx.blogspot.com/2009/08/save-whales-by-being-vegetarian-not.html' title='Save the Whales by being a Vegetarian? If you aren't up to speed on this issue, let me help you.

Most of you already know that if you go to the doctor for something as simple as a cold, it will cost you probably more than you can afford, unless you have medical coverage. But, if you have medical coverage and end up with a serious illness, chances are that the medical coverage provider can deny your claim and leave you with the bill. If they accept your claim, chances are that there will be costs past down to you, since the average coverage covers 60-80% of overall medical expenses. If you end up needing tests, a hospital stay and so on, that 20-40% you have to cover starts to add up.

In most of the countries on this little blue marble offer their citizens free or low cost medical care. In the U.K., the National Health Service was created after World War 2, and while not being perfect, provides health care to all its citizens, free of charge. They will even cover any travel expenses a patient may have to get to and from the health care provider.

Over the last several weeks, the idea of an American health system which can include the uninsured has been battled by both Republicans and Democrats. Ideas like single payer health care or a national healthcare system are being linked to Socialism and Communism. In 1961 a record call "Ronald Reagen Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine" was manufactured by the American Medical Association, one of the biggest opponents of the current ideas being batted around by Congress, ideas which the Federal government has batted around since after World War 2. The same fear of Socialism was used the rip apart Hillary Clinton's healthcare reform in 1994.

Yet, some of the most efficient national health care systems are in capitalist societies. Providing health care is a basic human right. One of the biggest problems in our economy right now people losing their jobs and subsequently their homes when the medical bills start piling up. There are people in this country who have to decide whether or not to receive treatment because they can't afford it. Is that how a society treats its members? Is that how a government treats its voters?

Medicare is a social insurance program which covers American citizens sixty-five years of age and older or disabled and was signed into law in 1965. Medicare works a lot like any other HMO: you find an in-network doctor and in-network specialists pay a co-pay after a deductible and the rest is covered. While not cheap, it is better than nothing at all. Isn't this a form of Socialism? Providing some of the most vulnerable members of our society with a basic human right? Oh no!

Both Democrats and Republicans are being financially supported by the American health care system so with that knowledge it makes sense that the Democrats would create the "Blue Dogs" the group of Democrats siding with the Republicans on not creating a national health care system of some sort. They thinks things are just fine the way they are. When did health care become about making money?

I'm sure you heard this too, growing up that being a doctor will guarantee a future with financial freedom. Do doctors become doctors because of the desire to heal or to be rich? While I can understand the desire for financial stability, are there any doctors out there who like healing people? But doctors are the lowest on the totem pole when it comes to making money. Their educations are very pricey and unless the medical student comes from a wealthy family, student loans will haunt that doctor for years to come. A medical degree isn't cheap either. After getting the required bachelor's degree which has to be from a private university or getting into a good medical school will be very difficult, there is three to four years in medical school. The cost per year at Cornell Medical School in New York is about $67,000 per year. That is a lot of money to pay back.

Another big expense of American doctors is malpractice insurance. A doctor, depending on their specialty, could spend between $32,000 up to $180,000 on malpractice insurance. In all sciences, things can go wrong, but the quick, get rich payday for patients is unbelievable in the United States. Some observers note that most doctors get sued not for malpractice, but for the outcome, which means that the doctor could have done everything correctly and to procedure, yet the outcome wasn't the desired effect. Only 22% of plaintiffs in malpractice cases win their trials. There are approximately 20,000 lawsuits filed each year.

With the need for more and more malpractice insurance, is this easy way to get rich hurting our health care system?

In a country of this size and with this amount of wealth should take care of its residents. Access to health care is a basic human right. The top 2% don't have to worry about who they are going to see when they are sick, but the other 98% of us do. A government and members of the government who can flat out say to the people who voted for them, no, you cannot have health care available to you, is wrong and makes us no better than societies who kill a certain ethnic group or social class. Most of the people who do not have health care are those who are the working class, but backbone of this country and not providing them with a basic human right for financial gain is wrong.

After posting this article, I saw this story on Huffington Post. CNN, one of our "trusted new sources" says that it won't run an ad which is critical of the insurance industry. Seriously?

Fat

This is a tough subject to talk about. So many people are so very opinionated on the subject of fat. This has been the most prevalent personal issue in my life since my preteens. From the time I was about eight or nine, I was told that I had a weight issue and ate too much. From two until fourteen, I was in ballet school and even while dancing two-three times a week and everyday at home, I was no where near as small as I wanted to be. Even in elementary school, at 5'3" and a size 10, I was teased as the fat girl. As I hit my teens, I was always very sensitive about eating in public (I still do not eat in public by myself) and very conscience about about my size, I was a size 12. In my early twenties, in what seemed to be overnight, I went from a size 10/12 to a size 22 and then by my mid-twenties, size 26. By that time, every facet of my life was out of control and my self hatred could be measured in tons.

I had been on Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers and had gone to overeaters' meetings. All those "fixes" would last a week or two, and then I'd return to my old habits. From the ages of 18 to 28, I hadn't seen the inside of a gym. I had my first gym membership at fourteen, when I had stopped dancing. In my mid-twenties, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and while there was a bit of relief that explained by obesity, my thyroid was just a small part of the problem. Then I started psychotherapy and about two years in, pounds started pouring off me. Why then?

For one, I was starting to actually like myself and starting to have the capability of feeling my body. To someone who doesn't have the same background I do, this concept may seem very foreign. Taking care of myself was a very difficult thing for me to do and I had absolutely no self awareness. When I started eating better because I wanted to take care of my body and not lose weight, that was when I felt my best. I also made it to the gym every morning before work and in a year, I lost seventy pounds. I went from a size 26 to an 18/20. I cried in a dressing room at Old Navy when I could fit into something that didn't say "plus sized" on it.

That triumph was short lived, however. As I left therapy and made some big, monumental changes in my life, the old demons reared their ugly heads. I fell back into bad habits and started the hate fest all over again. What is worse this time is that I know what is right and wrong and with that, I beat myself up more; the damage I'm doing is worse than before. I've re-entered therapy and hope that I can be strong enough to get back to taking care of myself. But my journey, which I can say is shared with many Americans, lead me to investigate and have some strong opinions about our culture, our environment and our food.

When I started eating healthy, I started looking at the ingredients in our food. Hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, sodium this and sodium that, glucose, fructose and chemicals I could not pronounce. I'd ask myself, "what is this?" and would research it online and would be horrified at what I found. I started shopping at a local natural food store and most of the items I choose had ingredients which I knew what they were. This simple change helped me feel better, but spending a bit more for these products. This food isn't available to everyone either. The main stream supermarkets are chock full of "healthy" products but the ingredients are virtually the same as anything else you would purchase. Everything has salt, sugar and fat.

I have to take a moment to say that I'm not blaming the food industry entirely because I'm fat. I decide what I eat, I understand that, but it is false advertising to say something is healthy when in fact it is just as bad for you as everything else. Diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes are spreading so quickly because people aren't given the resources to make fair and accurate decisions of what they are eating. Let's take diet soda for example which contains a cancer causing chemical, aspartame, which the body metabolizes just like sugar! The drink may not contain calories, but when your body processes it, it processes the artificial sugar like sugar.

I can understand that it isn't easy to eat healthy in today's American society. Making money has become more important than keeping people healthy. I've noticed over the last month or so that it has become more expense to make my own dinner versus buying prepared food. Isn't that just wrong? In the corporate ideology, that makes sense; corporations have enough filler to stretch out ingredients. When we make a meal for five for $90, a corporation can make a meal for twenty for $90. But the cost of people's health just isn't worth it. Also, sick people help boost the medical industry too. I think my thoughts on the American health system should be reserved for another blog, but let me just say that sick people, and sugar addicted children, help make millions for HMOs and pharmaceutical companies. Now, isn't that just sad. The weight loss industry itself is a multi-million dollar industry. Keeping people fat and sick lines a lot of people's wallets.

Our society puts so much weight on being thin. We see that through the constant weight loss products advertised and the increase of eating disorders in both women and men. I sometimes see these very thin women and I want ask how they are so thin. Maybe there is a secret that I just don't know, because being a size six seems like you'd have to spend your entire day working out and eating so very little. Being a size smaller than 10 seems like an impossible task to me. When I had lost weight in the past, I was vegan, eating no animal products what so ever. So that meant I mostly ate salads and soy products and only drank water.

Can I say I have an eating disorder? No. Do I have problems with food? Absolutely. I find comfort and pleasure in food. I've lost sight of taking care of my body and myself and having given up health for pleasure. I'm sure I'm not alone.

I've recently learned about the suburban aversion to walking. My partner is from the suburbs and warned me of the lack of walking his family is used to. I observed that while walking at the mall and in the forty-plus isle supermarket was still walking, walking from place to place is simply not a common practice. As much as I love driving, I couldn't drive everywhere. I want to get out of my car and walk. Not to mention the environmental problems everyone driving causes.

We are no longer hunters and gatherers, and like any animal, when we have an abundance, we will take advantage of it. Knowing that, it is easy to lose the idea of eating a balance of vitamins and minerals we need to survive. In our busy lives, it is difficult to allocate this amount of this for zinc or vitamin A. When we lose site of how to take care of ourselves, we lose sight of our overall health.

Eating healthy and exercising are so important for a good life. While I liked being vegan and eating all veggies, there are times where I like to eat for pleasure and not just for nutrition. I think, like everything else, in moderation, that is ok. I can't sacrifice my life to be a size eight. Sorry, I won't do it. My biggest obstacle right now is to feel better and treat myself right. Perhaps that is what our society is lacking, the ability for everyone to treat themselves and each other right. Well, also we need to no longer be lied to as to what is healthy. We, as a society need to stop looking for where to make the next buck and how to keep ourselves healthy and happy without criticizing others along the way.

Children

This morning on another blogger site, I came across this video:

Ok, while I am very much against child abuse, I have to pause really watch this video. Why are people so angry about it. Is she maliciously dragging that child around or is the child just having a good time? Who are we to judge this woman and her child's relationship? Why does the person filming have a right to put this all over the internet?

Well, let me first take a step back and express how I feel about children in the first place. I'm not a fan of children nor their parents. I don't think people should be allowed to have so many babies as their uterus will produce. I think the fertility industry is hurting our society rather than helping it. I'll get into that at some later time in another post. But, us people who don't like children and don't want children shouldn't have to be subject to other people's children and their unruly behavior nor the restrictions society is trying to enforce "for the children".

When I was a child, I was told, "Children should be seen and not heard." I knew that if I went to a museum or a grocery store, I had to behave myself or hell would descend upon my head. So, when I'm in a museum as an adult and I'm getting hit with strollers which contain children who have to hold their legs up so that they won't drag on the ground, I get very, very angry because of parents lack of respect for anyone other than their child/children. At the aquarium several months ago, children with their parents right behind them, repeatedly slapped exhibits which contained animals. Who is to blame, the children or their parents? I observed that the stroller is the modern leash: parents are too afraid to let their child run around on their own, and a leash is demeaning, but somehow a stroller isn't. I vaguely remember two months after my second birthday visiting Disney World in Florida and walking the entire Magic Kingdom. For all my parents faults, they didn't want to deal with a stroller and rides, so I had to walk. I don't remember it being a hardship or any discomfort. Now, walking seems like almost a dangerous thing.

My partner observed that museums and aquariums do seem more geared towards children nowadays, but then I have to ask, when did our society become so focused on children? It is sad when a movie like G-Force becomes the big weekend movie. Yes, a CGI film about warrior gerbils. Seriously, and it is only getting worse.

While traveling abroad, I've noticed the lack of children and restaurants which have a sign outside "no one under 18 permitted". When I boast about the need for rules and restrictions in public places, I usually get, "well then that means that your ten year old niece won't be allowed into..." Exactly, that's my point. No children. I like going to a restaurant and not feel like it is Chuck E. Cheese. Another comment I get when I voice my opinion on how children should be restricted from certain public places is "well, what if they don't let your dog into..." My dog isn't allowed most anywhere. I'm lucky if I can bring my dog into Starbucks. While I have to stand outside while my partner runs in to purchase my latte, I see children running around, grabbing and throwing straws while my dog sits there bored and confused. Is that fair? Now in our society, it is bad to speak ill of children or the practice of procreating which is frustrating for people like me who don't like kids, nor their parents and don't think that their children should be infringing upon my experience, wherever I may be.

I remember the pressure of getting married and having children; being ten years old and being asked if I had a boyfriend or the "wedding" playset. I understand people are pressured to get married and pop out babies. I think, I hope, that brainwashing is starting to subside. I see people all the time, tired and frustrated with children in tow. You can see in these people's faces that they are trapped by the loud, screeching being on their arm. There are a few parents out there who I can honestly say are good parents and that is reflected in their children's behavior. Should parenthood then be restricted to those who really want to job as parents? I think so. Giving up your youth and financial freedom isn't worth it and, like any other job, not everyone is capable of doing the work. We still have to worry about survival of the species, but it is no longer that we keep our population going, but that we can sustain ourselves. Why doesn't anyone talk about how overpopulation is a major contributing factor to the planet's demise. Again, it is a big society no-no to say anything negative about having babies and instead of dealing with our problems, we wonder why so many parents are killing their kids and dragging them around a store.

Why the new blog?

Hello to all those who have happened to find this blog.

For a while now, I've wanted to create a new blog where I discuss different observations I've made while observing, well, our planet in all its craziness. While I may be all over the place with this blog, my goal is to keep it mostly on political and cultural observation, however, I like to ramble about very random things. I hope you enjoy this blog and I hope it evolves into something you, dear observer, will like to read.
